The Birks Cinema Trust (formerly the Friends of The Birks Cinema) is a registered charity (Scottish Charity number SCO 41030) that owns and operates the independent community cinema, "The Birks" in Aberfeldy, Highland Perthshire, Scotland.
The Birks Cinema, which first opened in 1939, closed its doors in 1982. It was then used in a variety of roles, finally as an amusement arcade, but closed again and was put up for sale in 2005. A small, local, group of cinema enthusiasts formed the "Friends", conducted an interest survey and then embarked upon an intense and highly successful fundraising campaign. The building was purchased, refurbished and revived as a "state of the art" cinema with a cafe bar, re-opening its doors seven years later on 20th April 2013.
We offer something for everyone; films, live events beamed in, live events performed in the cinema and many community activities.
We support our community and its many visitors, please support us by signing up today.
How it works
The Lottery results are calculated using the temperatures from selected destinations around Europe on a particular day each week.
Players are assigned 6 numbers when registering, that are then checked against the last 6 digits of temperatures in Fahrenheit that are published in the Daily Mail on the day of the draw.
